The diversity of skills needed at CERN is so much larger than what most people know! Meet Katarina, Software engineer at CERN

Hi Katarina, tell us a little about yourself and what brought you to CERN?
I’m a Swedish Software Engineer who joined CERN in March 2000. What encouraged me to apply to CERN was the combination of a fit with my technical competencies at the time, the international environment and the geographic location. I also liked the fact that I would be able to practice both English and French, but both languages were not necessary to apply and get a job.

"I really do feel that most of the events in my life have led me to this point, right here." Meet Rob, CERN recruitment and sourcing specialist

We are born, we live, we die. But time is not linear. Look closely and you may notice that time is cyclical and rhythmic. Observe the seasons; the same four come around each year. Even ice ages have a cycle on this earth. These colossal events began long before humans arrived and they will continue to cycle long after we have gone. However, in our lives, we perceive time to be linear. But I invite you to take another look. Keeping an open mind, like that of Grecian philosophers, free from preceding ideology, and perhaps you too will see the cyclical nature of your own life.
